Connecting to others through BaptistCare online social club

Humans are social beings and need that social and human connection now more than ever. As people age and lose partners and friends or are separated from family by distance, loneliness can contribute to a decline in mental and overall health. BaptistCare at home is launching a trial for At Home clients to join a Three Month Free Trial on the BaptistCare Online Social Club, in partnership with GetSetUp.

Humans are social beings and need that social and human connection now more than ever. As people age and lose partners and friends or are separated from family by distance, loneliness can contribute to a decline in mental and overall health.

BaptistCare at home is launching a trial for BaptistCare at home clients to join a Three Month Free Trial on the BaptistCare Online Social Club, in partnership with GetSetUp. GetSetUp is the world’s leading provider of on-line classes for seniors, and, starting on August 1, 2021, Baptist Care will be offering a free three-month subscription for BaptistCare at home clients.

GetSetUp is an online community of people who want to learn new skills, connect with others and unlock new life experiences. The safe, social and interactive learning environment has been specifically designed for older adults. Classes are taught by older adults and kept small to ensure everyone can actively participate. The social club helps older adults stay mentally and physically fit and creates a community where people find meaning and purpose by helping each other and forming new connections.

This initiative further reflects our commitment to Well Living by helping our clients to “Think Well” and “Connect Well”.

It's not just a response to COVID-19 isolation, it's about getting people connected for their overall health and wellbeing: Our goal is for 20% of clients to be participating in some form of online connection by 2023.

Emails have been sent out to clients about this wonderful opportunity to get clients connected online. See the video at the link below for more information or if you would like further details or help registering you can contact GetSetUp by email help@getsetup.io or by calling 02 7908 7762.

If you have any questions on the Online Social Club, you can contact BaptistCare at home’s Health and Well-Living unit on getsetup@baptistcare.org.au.
