Staying connected is a Breezie

In October 2019 we successfully applied for a grant of $430,000 from the Federal government to provide 300 Commonwealth Home Support Program clients with special ‘Breezie’ tablets. These tablets are specifically designed to help seniors interact online, learn new skills and and overcome potential isolation.

Breezie tablets operate simple software that is easy for our clients to use. but new technology can be daunting, so we trained over 50 staff members as special Digital Coaches, something that they also thoroughly enjoyed. Our coaches help each client successfully use the tablet, find topics of interest online and do other daily activities like grocery shopping. Some of the most used apps are games like Solitaire and jigsaw puzzles, but many are also connecting with social media and enjoy video chats with friends and family. In these COVID-19 times it has been a significant opportunity for many.

The feedback has been impressive, with one client saying; “I absolutely love my Breezie. I like doing crosswords and listening to classical music. Last week I took a photo of a beautiful tree outside my window. I felt very proud of my achievement! I hope to continue using the Breezie as it has changed my daily routine for the better."
