Late last year, residents at BaptistCare Yallambee Residential Care in Mundaring received a Christmas gift from students at the nearby Mundaring Christian College.

It is a handcrafted timber garden bench created by students from the Year 9 Design and Technology class as their final term project for 2020.

Everything from the style to the height of the solid wooden seat was inspired by the needs of the seniors who call BaptistCare Yallambee home.

BaptistCare Chaplains Manager Wade Sinclair, who was presented with the garden bench this week, said it was such a thoughtful and heart-warming gesture from the Mundaring Christian College students.

“I am very impressed by the level of quality and craftsmanship that has gone into this special woodworking project,” he said.

“A lot of time and energy has been invested in the design and creation of this wonderful piece over many weeks and it represents the true spirit of Christmas giving.”

The bench now has pride of place in the BaptistCare Yallambee garden with its natural bushland vista and is destined to become a treasured outdoor spot for residents for years to come.
