With one in five people in WA’s Great Southern aged 65 and over, there has been an increase in the demand for home care services in the region to help seniors live independently at home.
Baptistcare’s At Home Services Great Southern team recently relocated to an office at Baptistcare Bethel Village in Albany with the aim of integrating the organisation’s aged care service offering to all customers in the broader community.
Staying in their own home is an important factor for people as they age or become frail, said Deb Patterson, Executive General Manager At Home Services.
“We encourage people to stay in their own home where possible because that is what the majority of people want. The benefits to their physical and mental health are greatly improved if they can stay connected to their community,” she said.
Baptistcare At Home Services can be accessed in the Perth metro area and across regional WA, including the Great Southern catchment area from Albany to Windy Harbour, Bow Bridge, Denmark and Warranup. Services are available through a private service package, through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs or a Government subsidised home care package.
Deb Patterson said having multiple services, Retirement Living, At Home Services and Residential Care on one site at Baptistcare Bethel Village and Baptistcare Bethel Residential Care in Albany provides many opportunities to help even more people.
