The front lawn of Karingal Aged Care in Tasmania transformed into a winter wonderland this December, as hundreds of twinkling lights, a towering 5-metre Christmas tree, and the joyful sounds of carols brought the community together for an unforgettable evening.
Residents, families, local children, and neighbours gathered for a celebration that perfectly captured the true spirit of Christmas: connection, joy, and togetherness.
When it came time for carols, something beautiful happened. Children from the crowd, BaptistCare team members and residents joined together to sing Christmas Carols.
With team members Sally and Margie leading the growing chorus, getting everyone involved as voices young and old filled the evening air.

The magic continued as children ran through the falling snow from the snow machine while residents watched with delight, many handing out lolly bags to the excited youngsters. For some residents, the effort to come outside was significant, but absolutely worth it.
One resident shared a particularly moving moment: "I did not think I would see another Christmas and I was not going to come out. I'm so happy I did... I do love Christmas."
It was an evening of heartwarming moments. Residents who rarely venture outside made the effort, spontaneous visitors joined the festivities, and generations connected through song, laughter, and the simple joy of being together.
