Aged home care is an incredibly rewarding field of work, with the opportunity to connect with older people in the community, listen to their stories and find out what they love, and help them to live the best life possible in their own home.
It’s the perfect time to begin your journey in home care regardless of your age or background, with the Fair Work Commission recently awarding a significant pay rise to all Australian aged care workers.
A home care worker provides support and care for older people in their homes, assisting with everyday tasks, and providing companionship. A carer might help an elderly client with things like:
Home care workers might visit several clients in one day and may be required to drive them to various social activities, or pick up some shopping on their behalf. The days are full, varied and satisfying, knowing you are making a genuine difference to someone’s life.
