23 July, 2020

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, and to say farewell on the occasion of my retirement.

As announced publicly on July 3, Charles Moore will be our new Chief Executive Officer. I am currently handing over the reins as CEO to Charles and my last day is Friday 14 August.

I have had the pleasure to work with a fantastic team of strongly-focussed, compassionate and humble people who with their very positive attitudes have helped to make BaptistCare what it is today; a great, community-minded organisation that continues to grow and support those most vulnerable in our communities. We are in an excellent position for the future and I am confident that God has guided the Board to select the right person to take BaptistCare to even greater heights.

Prior to his appointment, Charles Moore was CEO of Sydney Olympic Park Authority where one of his many achievements was the creation of the Sydney Olympic Park Master Plan as a sustainable precinct. He brings to the role extensive leadership experience in private and government sectors, and a successful track record in property investment and development that will be critical to BaptistCare’s ongoing growth and development in residential aged care, retirement living and community housing projects over the next 10 years.

Charles and I will be embarking upon a roadshow across NSW and ACT, visiting most of our BaptistCare sites. Sadly due to COVID-19 restrictions these visits will not allow us to gather in great numbers, but I do hope I will have the opportunity to introduce Charles as well as say farewell to as many employees and residents as possible. We will begin our roadshow by making our way down to the ACT and then back up the South coast. We will also venture West to the Blue Mountains, Wagga and then North to warmer climes on the Central Coast, Forster and Newcastle, finishing our tour close to home with our Hills district homes.

On the occasion of his appointment, Charles said: "I am delighted to be joining BaptistCare a key attraction to the role was the organisation’s capacity to have a real and meaningful impact to make a difference in people’s lives.

“It is a great honour to be able to serve a business with the mission to transform lives by expressing the love of Christ and it’s exciting to think I’ll be joining over 4,500 staff and volunteers delivering on this mission each and every day.”

As part of the leadership transition and in addition to our CEO roadshow, Charles will be arranging introductory meetings with key stakeholders and BaptistCare partners. In the meantime, if you have any questions, you can contact the BaptistCare Communications team at ask@baptistcare.org.au.

Stay safe and healthy – and over to you, Charles.
