Over the last 12 months, BaptistCare HopeStreet raised an astounding $7,000 off the back of community members recycling cans and glass bottles at Return and Earn locations around NSW.

That equals 70,000 cans or 35,000 glass bottles, which is an extraordinary effort.

BaptistCare HopeStreet are continuing the initiative this year with the aim of raising $20,000.

Speaking about the recycling fundraising initiative, Brooke Stanton, BaptistCare’s Head of Fundraising and HopeStreet Marketing, said it was a small but important activity that could make a huge difference across local communities.

“Our HopeStreet teams are supporting men, women and families in some of our most vulnerable communities that are experiencing economic distress, homelessness or domestic and family violence,” Brooke said.

“We play an important role in the community, with the support of our staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and community, delivering critical HopeStreet programs and services for those that need it.”

Every contribution towards HopeStreet, regardless of how big or small, makes a difference.

“That’s the message we really want to resonate with people. We know the cost of living is placing pressure on so many at the moment, but by taking part in this Return and Earn initiative, this is one small way that you can play your part in giving back,” said Brooke.

“What’s great about this initiative is that it’s not only great for the work we do but for the environment too.”

Every can or bottle is worth 10 cents, and funds will go towards our HopeStreet locations and teams who are providing safe and welcoming places where people can access:
