A local grower has delivered masses of sunflowers to Baptistcare Kalkarni Residential Care in Brookton to brighten the lives of residents during the current visitor restrictions brought on by COVID-19.

Our team have placed the brilliant yellow flowers – which are symbols of positivity and optimism – around the facility to be enjoyed by the 45 seniors who call Baptistcare Kalkarni home.

The giant blooms are also bringing a touch of the outdoors to the inside of the residential aged care facility which has always been a much-loved part of the 1000 strong community in the tiny Wheatbelt town.

Baptistcare CEO, Russell Bricknell, said it was humbling to see the generosity of members of the public during this difficult time for people living in aged care.

“Gestures such as this are unexpected and so very appreciated,” he said.

“The grower has not only delivered flowers to Kalkarni, but a powerful message that the Brookton community has the residents in their thoughts and they remain connected.”

The grower has vowed to make weekly floral drop-offs to Baptistcare Kalkarni until the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and the community can once again visit residents.
