It was difficult to pick the top 10 stories from our BaptistCare community across NSW, ACT and WA of the year. So much has happened, and you can look back at our stories in our blog archive, but here are ten of the best stories of 2023.

Extending the reach of our care
The BaptistCare family grew considerably this year with three new aged care sites and six services coming into the fold in NSW. We love being able to care for more residents and communities across NSW, ACT and WA.

Powering towards net zero by 2050
BaptistCare NSW and ACT this year announced the signing of a PPA with Flow Power ensuring some of the most vulnerable people are not left behind in the transition to renewables.

Finding friends and daily joy
Have you ever wondered what it's like living in aged care? Thanks to some of our residents, we busted myths and misconceptions and learned about the care and community at the heart of our homes.

Providing support in hard times
We have 77 chaplains at BaptistCare always ready to sit, listen and care for the community. We loved getting an insight into the role chaplains like Carolyn Bourke play.

It's all about people, first and foremost
Are you toying with the idea of working in aged care? One of the great things about 2023 was putting the spotlight on our aged care workers like Sam, to showcase the diversity and rewards that come with the job.

Stronger together
In March, Baptistcare WA and BaptistCare NSW & ACT became one. It's been a year of transition, but the benefits can already be seen on both coasts as the shared passion for quality care continues and grows.

HopeStreet ignites dreams to take flight
It's the ultimate good news story. When Myra walked into HopeStreet Mount Druitt for some support with food, she couldn't have dreamed she'd leave with training and then a job!

If I could turn back time
Cher sang about it, but Joan Powell actually did it! The Busselton WA local resolved to move back home and, with the help of the team of BaptistCare William Carey Court, she did it!

Welcome to your new home
Our biggest social and affordable housing community, Gimbawali Place, officially opened in 2023. In another year with a hard housing market, it was a joy to see the smiles on tenants' faces as they attended the opening and moved in.

Everybody say love
It's got the makings of the perfect Rom-Com. Friends for 60 years, then neighbours at BaptistCare The Gracewood Community and then a budding romance. So what happened next?

This is just a selection of the incredible stories shared and told by our BaptistCare NSW, ACT and WA staff, residents and communities this year, (you can see more in the news section of our website).

Here's to a new year with plenty more great moments coming in 2024.
