Leading aged care and retirement living provider BaptistCare NSW & ACT has been announced as a finalist in the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW Awards for Excellence, in the Retirement Living category.

The Gracewood Community's third and final stage has been shortlisted in the Retirement Living category, which celebrates communities that provide exceptional living experiences for older Australians.

Located in the Hills District of Sydney, The Gracewood Community offers a range of care options that ensures residents have access to support as their needs change, from home care to residential aged care and respite care.

The community is known for its picturesque setting, supportive environment and exceptional amenities including a café, heated pool, gym, library, vegetable garden, workshop, putting green, bocce court, BBQ areas and Community Centre with alfresco dining.

A much-loved feature of The Gracewood Community are the gardens and natural woodland areas, which have taken centre stage across all three stages of The Gracewood Community. The award-winning community vegetable garden, designed by celebrity gardener Jason Hodges, is a hive of activity for residents who grow herbs and vegetables.

In addition to its exceptional amenities, BaptistCare’s The Gracewood Community offers various programs and activities catering to residents' physical, emotional, and social needs, including fitness classes, art and craft sessions, music performances, movie screenings, and community events.

The Gracewood Community achieved a 5-star Green Star rating, recognising its sustainable design and construction practices, and features energy-efficient lighting, water-saving devices, and natural ventilation systems that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

High-quality materials have been carefully selected for their durability, functionality, and aesthetic, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that complements the natural surroundings. The Gracewood Community’s design is characterised by its attention to detail, from the curved balconies to the custom-made joinery elevating the living experience.

David Cowdery, BaptistCare’s General Manager for Property, is thrilled with the acknowledgement of the third and final stage of the retirement community.

"Our communities are designed with a people-first approach, and we really understand the importance of community, belonging and togetherness," said Mr Cowdery.

"Being a finalist amongst some very strong contenders is wonderful. We're really proud of The Gracewood Community's outstanding achievements in the senior living industry. Our team have shown great commitment and dedication to deliver seniors with a vibrant, connected community and a comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle."
