BaptistCare are pleased to announce that as of 1 February 2020, we have taken ownership of the daily operations of Bethshan Gardens Aged Care Centre at Wyee, located between the Central Coast and Newcastle.

Our Residential Aged Care Division has been working through this exciting development of acquiring the aged care centre, which is situated in the picturesque town of Wyee, in the Lake Macquarie region of New South Wales. Wyee is surrounded by lakes, close to beaches and near the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway.

The previous operator of this aged care centre, Bethshan Ministries Limited, is a like-minded, faith-based Christian organisation and a member of Baptist Care Australia. We share the same values of love and respect, and aspire to create home-like places where every individual can live well and lives can be transformed.

By way of background, as the aged care sector is facing significant challenges on many fronts, providers with only one aged care home are finding the cost of operating difficult to sustain. In 2019, Bethshan Ministries began the process of reviewing the future of Bethshan Gardens, and after careful consideration, its Board made the decision to transfer the operations to a much larger aged care provider – BaptistCare.

The Bethshan and BaptistCare teams have been working collaboratively to ensure minimal interruption for the staff and residents at Bethshan Gardens followed by a smooth transition into our organisation, with all residents and staff being kept fully informed of all developments. We welcome the Bethshan Gardens residents and their families, staff and volunteers into the BaptistCare family.

Bethshan Gardens consists of 134 single rooms with ensuites set within a configuration of seven cottages, and provides a range of services and support for residents across all levels of care, including dementia care and respite care.

Bethshan has two cafés onsite, one of which is open to the public, enhancing connections with the local community. There is a church located on the adjacent property, and for those unable attend, there is an option to access the services via television from each room.

Bethshan is surrounded by plenty of outdoor space and gardens, offering a welcoming, secure and a safe environment for our residents.
