Our Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) development in Springwood was officially opened in late June 2019, with 15 brand new units for seniors complementing the 39 existing units at BaptistCare Wingara Hamlet.
The units are specifically designed for people over 55, and provide much-needed affordable housing for older Australians.
Belinda Daly, then Manager at BaptistCare Wingara Hamlet, said the units had filled quickly, indicating the high level of demand in the Mountains.
“Each unit is designed for ageing in place, and attached to an existing village, with a community centre and all the extra services on hand.” said Belinda.
For one of our newest tenants, Joelle, her new unit has transformed her life.
“As part of a greater community, I feel very secure. I know that I have the added support from BaptistCare, if needed, as I get older, and that makes a big difference, it brings much peace to me,” says Joelle.
Tenants have access to our housing manager and tailored support coordinator, who support tenants with access to a range of individualised services to improve their wellbeing, independence and achieve their goals.
