Work has commenced on the $25 million expansion of BaptistCare Kintyre Living retirement village in Dubbo, adding 40 new independent living villas to the existing community.
The construction milestone was marked by current Kintyre residents Juliette O’Sullivan and Malcolm Bryan turning the first sod alongside Mayor Josh Black, Dubbo Regional Council, and the teams from BaptistCare and North Richmond Construction
Partnering with North Richmond Construction, an Australian owned company specialising in aged care and retirement living, this project will be built by Dubbo locals for Dubbo locals, with local site foreman and subcontracted tradespeople engaged in the development.
The expansion of Kintyre Living Village will be completed in two stages, with 17 new villas being built in phase one and completed in late 2026 and an additional 23 villas with an anticipated completion date of mid-2027.
With an already thriving community, the expansion of BaptistCare Kintyre Living will provide more accommodation options for seniors living in Dubbo and the wider region, enabling older Australians to stay close to their community as they enter retirement or ‘right-size’ their living arrangements.
Allan Waters, Chief Operations Officer, Residential and Retirement Living, said over the last decade, Kintyre Living Village has become a vibrant, active and engaged community, and it is exciting to be building the next chapter of the village.
“Adding these 40 new villas to Kintyre Living is a significant investment not only in the Kintyre community but also in the broader Dubbo region,” Allan said.
“Access to tailored seniors accommodation, such as these villas at Kintyre Living, helps alleviate housing pressures across the region.”
“It provides more options for individuals to find housing that best suits their needs as they approach retirement, transition from work, or seek to 'right-size' their living arrangements,” Allan said.
Speaking at the event, Member for Dubbo Regional Mayor Josh Black said supporting local trades and building more housing is great for the Dubbo community.
“I've been a keen observer of this community for a long time now, and it's fantastic to see it growing,” he said.
“This is something that Dubbo really needs and will be used long into the future.”
BaptistCare Kintyre Living Retirement Village is an important part of a network of care and services that BaptistCare provides to Dubbo and the surrounding areas.
The village is integrated with the local BaptistCare At Home team, it neighbours BaptistCare Kintyre Lodge aged care home and the Kintyre village residents are incredibly supportive of the work done at BaptistCare HopeStreet in Dubbo.
BaptistCare is proud to be a part of the Dubbo community and play a role in supporting locals to live and age well without having to leave their community.
