In the first half of the financial year, we welcomed 202 new volunteers into the BaptistCare family.
Our volunteers provide valuable assistance, comfort, care and support to our customers across BaptistCare, and we are incredibly grateful for every person who offers their time and energy in this special way.
Our first Annual Volunteer Engagement Survey was conducted in November 2019 with a response rate of 33% (of the 352 volunteers with email addresses). The purpose of the survey was to measure the effectiveness of the current onboarding volunteer process and procedures and to evaluate the management practices of volunteer coordinators. Sixty per cent of volunteers rated their overall experience at BaptistCare as ‘excellent’, and thirty-eight per cent as ‘good’.
Sadly due to the preventative closures of our aged care homes from March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, all volunteers attending our homes were asked to pause their work, to ensure the health and safety of both of our volunteers, staff and residents. This pause is ongoing and we look forward to welcoming back these volunteers as soon as it is possible.
With a genuine desire to show our volunteers just how much we value who they are and the vital role they play, we saluted our volunteers during National Volunteer Week in May 2020 with a special delivery of some chocolate and a postcard and video message from our CEO for every BaptistCare volunteer.
