As a nation, we have spent more than two decades looking at how to fix our aged care system. With the Royal Commission set to deliver a historic set of recommendations, we can't let this opportunity pass us by. The Government must commit to comprehensive reform of aged care so all older Australians are supported and enabled to live their lives in comfort and with dignity.
Some of the challenges BaptistCare and our peers in the Aged Care sector face are :
- Extra 88,000 residential Aged Care spots are needed over the next 10 years
- 16,000 people died waiting for a home care package in 2018
- 78,000 extra aged care workers will be needed in the next 10 years
