After three years living at The Gracewood Community, my husband Lyell and I would unconditionally recommend this village for anyone considering taking advantage of the sale prices that large, standalone homes in this district are now fetching – they’ve gone through the roof! – and moving into a lovely, brand new luxury retirement apartment.
There’s plenty to do here, or alternatively you can do nothing. You can live life entirely the way you choose.
When we first moved here from our home of 10 years in Castle Hill, I must admit I was a little apprehensive, worrying I might miss my garden and our many neighbourhood friends. If I say so myself, I’d created the loveliest garden in our street from what was a bare corner block when we first moved in, planting many beautiful roses, in particular. But we felt the time was right to downsize, and we were really impressed by and attracted to the energy and vibrancy of The Gracewood retirement village in Kellyville, by all the facilities on offer here, and the lovely clean ‘brand-newness’ of the airy top-floor apartment we purchased.
Sitting out on our balcony enjoying panoramic views, we feel like we’re in a holiday resort. It’s like going to the Gold Coast – except for no beach on the doorstep of course. Eventually I also joined The Gracewood’s Gardening Club, of which I’m now leader, and I love it. We grow fresh seasonal veggies, herbs and fruit, then collect and sell the produce that’s ready for harvesting each week, which in turn funds our work. So many people here really appreciate the contribution of Gardening Club members’ efforts in providing such a regular flow of delicious, healthy, low-priced fare, which is a great motivator – not that we really need it, as the joys of gardening in the fresh air is reward in itself.
Many people here have their grandchildren and sometimes great-grandchildren to stay, particularly over school holiday periods with so many working parents, so we’ve also created a few fairy gardens for younger children to play in. It’s such a lovely community here and we have made some wonderful friends. They have become our neighbourhood.
Our Village Manager is a big part of that. She’s a delightful person with a great sense of humour, and she and her staff make life so much easier, you don’t have to worry about a thing.
The Gracewood retirement village has such a good vibe and we’re so glad we chose it to be our home. I can honestly say that over the past three years, we have never regretted our decision to move here; not for one second.
