The classic cars literally rolled in to BaptistCare Warena in Bangor, parked not just in the car park, but also inside the centre itself.

Inspired by BaptistCare employee and local resident Scott Bricknell’s love of classic cars, this event was about bringing something different and sparking that hint of nostalgia for residents.

“I am fortunate enough to own four classic cars myself and am heavily involved with organising cars and coffee in the Sutherland Shire for like-minded people to gather every two months to show their cars and mingle,” Scott said.

“I thought it would evoke some memories for them of cars they perhaps had in their life or remember riding in.”

There was a range of classic cars for residents to enjoy. Beautifully shined mini minors, a bright red Chevrolet alongside classic Utes and convertibles.

It was a hit. With many residents marvelling at the cars and how Scott and the team managed to sneak a few inside.

“I am not mechanically minded, “said resident Robert, “but WOW! The work that has gone into these cars just for us to look at is amazing.”

“It was a great day and absolutely amazing how Scott got the cars inside,” resident Shirley said. “And for all those people to take time out of their day and bring the cars for us to see was great.”

This event was more than looking at and learning about classic cars.

Enabling ways for residents at BaptistCare Warena to connect with the wider Sutherland Shire community is part of the local aged care provider’s commitment to creating a full and balanced lifestyle.
