Role Description

We are looking for a friendly, caring person to interact on an individual basis, with our socially isolated residents/clients. During your visit, your support may include a cup of tea, playing cards or games, listening to music or simply having a chat.

  • Maintain regular contact with allocated client/s by visiting on a regular basis; weekly or fortnightly
  • Provide companionship through social interaction, conversation and sharing interests
  • Listening to music
  • Watching television together
  • Crossword puzzles, card games
  • Craft activities – knitting, crochet, sewing

Role Requirements

    • Demonstrate compassion and care toward others
    • Present a positive and friendly approach to all
    • Possess excellent communication skills
    • Demonstrate an ability to work well in a team
    • Undergo a Police Background Check by BaptistCare
    • Possess or undergo a Working with Vulnerable People (ACT Only)
    • Complete the BaptistCare online volunteer orientation training and site induction
    • Participate in activities safely, being mindful of clients, self and staff
    • Preserve the privacy of clients and team members by observing the required standards of confidentiality
