Knowing that you're impacting the lives of people you care about is an enriching experience. Looking after people at home enables them to remain in familiar surroundings, which is also preferable for both family and staff. A career in aged care offers a sense of satisfaction, knowing that you're making an impact on the lives of people you care about.
One of the greatest benefits of working in aged care is client interaction. You'll spend your days getting to know the clients and their families. This role can provide rewarding interactions that are both mentally and physically satisfying. Ashley talks about how much she enjoys what she does for a living – this is her story!
“I became a Care Worker because I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to bring positivity, happiness and comfort to people who really need it.
I’ve been working as a Care Worker for almost three years and what I’ve found it’s a career that never stops giving. There is never a day where I don’t learn something new, the opportunity for self-growth is unlimited and something as simple as a smile, a listening ear, or a kind word can change a client’s whole experience. Certainly, working as a Care Worker is the most rewarding and heart-warming thing I have ever done.
My highlight so far is observing a client recover from an injury, gain independence and walk her dog again to her favourite park. Knowing that I supported our clients at home and enabled them to start living their best life again, is priceless. Seeing them progress and be active each day is very rewarding, I honestly think being part of the amazing team at BaptistCare feels more like a family than a job!
The support of fellow colleagues and support teams cannot be faulted. I have been blessed to be given opportunities to build my skills, further my education, and grow as person.” - It's never too late to start your career in Aged Care.”
