Support our BaptistCare HopeStreet team as they take on the 2024 Chain Reaction Foundation Challenge

How would you feel if you had no place to call home as a child?

That’s the reality for more than 25,000 children in Australia who are homeless.

At BaptistCare HopeStreet, we support children who face disadvantage and distress in some of the most vulnerable communities in Australia.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: To transform lives and build a safer future for children.

The Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation is a partner that supports charities like HopeStreet. Funds from the 2024 Chain Reaction Challenge will help us provide safe and affordable housing for kids and their mothers, our Breakfast Club, counselling programs, school packs, and care packages for families starting over.

Cycling toward a better future for our children

More than $241,791 has been raised to date thanks to our BaptistCare HopeStreet cycling team, who took part in the 2024 Chain Reaction Challenge earlier this month.

Across 7 days, our team pedalled 1,100 kilometres across the spectacular and scenic Daylesford region , Great Ocean Road and Dandenong Ranges in Victoria to raise money for children and their families.

BaptistCare Team Captain, Greg Bain, said the extraordinary fundraising effort wasn’t without its challenges.

“The ride proved to be more of a challenge than many of us had anticipated. Several long consecutive days riding in very warm conditions certainly took its toll. Having our charity partners there to support us along the way ensured our challenge was kept in perspective in comparison to the battles the kids and families we support face into each day.”

“I know the riders and the amazing support team are delighted with the funds raised. I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact the funds have with each of our charity partners.”

Funds raised will go towards HopeStreet programs like, distributing emergency care packages to families starting afresh, specialist counselling services for children, our Good Start Breakfast Club that feeds over 200 children a month, and toward supporting children at school with school packs, homework help, tutoring and our Transition to High School Program that runs out of our Youth Space.
