Welcome

BaptistCare has been supporting seniors and families facing disadvantage at our Carlingford site for more than 75 years. This site is important to us. It was the birthplace of BaptistCare in 1944, and we are committed to continuing to work from this site to transform lives and create strong and caring communities for many years to come.

BaptistCare is seeking planning approval for a Seniors Living Village at this site (264-268 Pennant Hills Road). This Village will be located to the south of the site, behind the BaptistCare Community Housing development currently in construction, which will be opening in 2023.

Please check back regularly, as we will update this webpage as more details become available.

About BaptistCare Carlingford

The Seniors Living Village will include:

  • Approximately 130 independent living units for retirees, offering the best in lifestyle and care
  • 96 residential aged care rooms for people who need additional care
  • A respite facility for local families caring for loved ones at home
  • A diverse range of facilities, services and outdoor spaces for residents and the community to enjoy.

Planning for our residents
The Seniors Living Village will offer the best in lifestyle and care for its residents. The Village will be designed to support residents in independent living to make the most of their golden years and to provide industry-leading care for our residential aged care residents.

Residents will have access to a range of services and facilities on-site, including

  • Café, dining room, event and functions spaces
  • Pool and gym
  • Common gardens with community gardens, BBQ areas, and recreation areas
  • Library
  • Cinema
  • Allied health services
  • Hair and beauty salons
  • Dementia garden for residents to enjoy the outdoors safely and comfortably

Our residential aged care buildings will be designed to meet the latest standards and research in aged care. The accommodation will be divided into small households of 16 bedrooms, a central kitchen, and living and dining rooms. These smaller householders will offer a comfortable, peaceful, home-like environment for our residents.

Our independent living units for retirees will be spacious, light, and comfortable. The units will be built around a beautiful, central courtyard which will offer residents easy access to the services and facilities they need, as well as plenty of spaces and places to gather with families and friends.

Providing independent living and residential aged care services at the one site means that independent living residents can remain in their own homes for as long as possible while accessing in-house care services they may need.

Welcoming the community
BaptistCare is planning for a place that the whole community can visit and enjoy.

Beautiful parklands
We know our local area would benefit from more green and open space for residents to enjoy. That’s why BaptistCare would like to share the green and open space being created at our site with the local community. We are looking at opportunities to create a large, accessible, peaceful and leafy park at the southern end of the site, which will be open for public use.

We think this park should be inspired by the beautiful, natural landscape at the site, provide spaces for the community to gather and relax, and include accessible footpaths so people can move easily through the park. The park will be built next to our residential aged care facility, so it will need to be a place for passive enjoyment.

Street-front services
The community will be able to access a range of services such as a café and outdoor seating addressing Martins Lane.

Respite services
BaptistCare would like to open a respite centre at our Carlingford site to support local families, who are caring for loved ones at home, to take some much needed ‘me-time’.

Share your thoughts
We would love to hear your thoughts on how we can make our Seniors Living Village a wonderful place for both our residents and the local community. Please get in touch with us.

In fact, our Carlingford site was the birthplace of our very first aged care centre – or Elderly Ladies Home as it was then known – back in 1953.
