Giving individuals and families access to safe and affordable loans.
Our No Interest Loans are absolutely free of interest, fees, charges or penalties. They’re about giving individuals and families access to safe and affordable loans for everyday items such as white goods, car repairs, school uniforms, computers and medical bills.
People with poor credit history, or a string of bad debt and no spare cash, really struggle to find the funds for these every day or emergency costs, which can lead to substantial hardship. This basic financial support means that individuals and families are able to look towards their future, with a loan that empowers them, rather than adding to the cycle of debt.
HopeStreet Supported Playgroups are a joyous environment created for young children and families living on the margins to connect with one another in the community and form positive friendships.
The relationships and connections made at our playgroups give families the opportunity to alleviate and overcome isolation and loneliness, and bond over the shared experience of parenting. With our team of qualified and passionate support staff, we are also able to determine the needs of the local families we meet, and offer them guidance and access to other support programs that may help them and their children, such as no or low interest loans, our op-shop, or referrals to external agencies.
The Good Start Breakfast Club supports children and families by providing nutritious breakfast meals for local primary school aged children.
Research tells us that eating breakfast can improve children’s behaviour and learning at school, and poor eating patterns can impair growth and development, not to mention the impact on the overall wellbeing of a child. This special program ensures that not only do children get a healthy and filling breakfast to start their day right, but families living on low incomes have one less meal to put their shopping trolley each week. As always, it’s about more than the meal; our HopeStreet breakfast team seeks to make connections with families, be a friendly face, and offer a safe place in the local community for families in need.
The Op Shop here is home to the community's pre-loved goods and contains everything from music records, to homewares, clothing and children’s toys.
The sale of goods assists in financing the various social inclusion programs operating at HopeStreet, and gives local individuals and families the opportunity to purchase items at an affordable cost. We’re very much aware of the issue of increasing landfill, and believe that recycling and reusing items that others can make good use of is both environmentally responsible and practical for people living on low incomes. And with every HopeStreet location, the Op Shop is a community hub and safe place for locals to connect with each other and our team.
Our chaplains and volunteers come alongside of people, offering support and a listening ear as they go through life’s challenges and experiences.
It doesn't matter what your background or beliefs are, the spiritual and emotional support we offer is for everyone.
Our chaplains and volunteers are a compassionate presence at HopeStreet, and are there to get to know people, their stories, hopes and dreams. We help you engage in what gives you purpose and meaning in life.
