About Our Community

A recently renovated centre that boasts sweeping views of the countryside, George Forbes House is our home in the country. Set amongst stunning scenic bushland, you will experience natural beauty, every day. Located in the popular suburb of Queanbeyan on the outskirts of the ACT, you will enjoy peaceful, spacious grounds, and quaint courtyards where you can relax with friends and family. We also have an aviary and fishpond adding to the tranquil atmosphere.

The country comfort continues inside, where 85 generously sized rooms provide plenty of natural light, ample storage space, built-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. Of these rooms, two secure wings are dedicated to top-quality dementia care. Our highly skilled staff members never underestimate the power of individual care – it’s what we’re here for.

That’s why life at George Forbes House has never worked around an itinerary; it works around you. You’re invited to enjoy the convenience of an on-site hairdresser, library, podiatrist, physiotherapist, and regular trips and church services. Or you may prefer to relax and take in the beauty and peace of the local grounds. Whatever you choose, this country home is your special place to enjoy.

Individual Rooms

In our single rooms, you have greater flexibility to transform the space and make it your own. They are ideal for residents who are still relatively independent with lower care needs, however residents with higher care needs are still easily accommodated. Single rooms do come partially furnished with a bed, wardrobe, drawers, chair and desk. You are welcome to bring some smaller furniture items from home as well as other decorations to transform the space and make it your own sanctuary. You are never far from enjoying time with other residents and friends in our tastefully designed lounge and communal areas. Many of our single rooms come with ensuites – feel free to ask when you enquire.

Financials Explained

All non-supported residents who have assets above the current partially supported cut off level will be required to pay either a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or a lump sum Refundable Accommodation Deposit or a combination of lump sum refundable accommodation deposit (RAD) and the balance of the RAD as an equivalent Daily Payment (DAP). The pricing listed below is the maximum pricing for the category of the room and may vary depending on your individual circumstances.

To calculate the equivalent daily payment, the refundable accommodation deposit is multiplied by the current maximum permissible interest rate (MPIR)* and divided by 365 days.

i.e. ($550,000 x 5.76%) / 365 = $86.79 per day
