We are proud to share that BaptistCare Caloola Centre aged care home in Wagga Wagga, NSW, designed in partnership with Calder Flower Architects, has been recognised at the 2025 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Awards for Excellence in NSW, winning the Excellence in Residential Aged Care category!
This award recognises BaptistCare’s commitment to delivering high-quality aged care in a nurturing, home-like environment that supports residents to live with dignity, comfort and connection.
BaptistCare Caloola’s modern design embraces an intimate household model, with 80 private rooms spread across five separate 'cottages'. Each cottage includes private ensuites, a centralised kitchen and dining area, and shared living spaces that open onto outdoor areas. This thoughtful approach helps ease the transition into residential care and ensures residents feel truly at home.
Families and visitors are also welcomed into the heart of Caloola, with inviting leisure areas and dedicated spaces for spending time together. State-of-the-art Dementia care further enhances the home’s ability to meet the needs of residents now and into the future.
The award is the result of years of planning, dedication and collaboration from the BaptistCare team.
“We aimed to deliver a place that our residents would cherish as their home, and we have achieved that,” said Ross Morgan, BaptistCare Development Manager. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that all residents at BaptistCare Caloola receive the best possible care and support.”
BaptistCare Caloola has been part of the Wagga Wagga community for more than 50 years, continually evolving to meet the changing needs of residents and families. This latest development reflects BaptistCare’s vision for aged care that is not only modern and fit-for-purpose but also deeply connected to the people it serves.
Winning the UDIA Award highlights BaptistCare’s ongoing commitment to setting a new benchmark for aged care in regional NSW – creating places where residents feel safe, supported and at home.
