BaptistCare is rolling out a single national clinical communication solution - the Stryker Vocera Badge B7000, across all our residential aged care homes.
The Vocera Badge is a hands-free, wearable communication device that integrates with nurse call systems, enabling instant, voice-activated communication across care teams. By allowing staff to connect in real time without leaving residents, Vocera strengthens safe communication, faster response times, and continuity of care.
BaptistCare Shalom residential aged care home in Macquarie Park, NSW, was the first home to implement the new badge, followed by neighbouring Dorothy Henderson Lodge, also transitioning after both homes’ successful pilots, marking a major milestone in modernising communication across BaptistCare.
“The Vocera Badge shows how innovation elevates connected care,” said Clare Medhurst, Head of IT - Residential Services & Retirement Living. “Teams have embraced the Vocera Badges, and we’re already seeing faster responses and stronger connections. Proof of the positive impact this technology will have across every BaptistCare home,” said Clare.
Sarah Balmer, GM Quality – Residential Services & Retirement Living, took the opportunity to speak to teams at Shalom and thanked them for their commitment to improving care. She shared feedback from people using the badge, including how quickly support arrived in an urgent moment and how the badge has become an essential, time‑saving tool – described as “my new work bestie.”
“The new Vocera Badge bridges communication between our teams, enhances their work experience and supports better care outcomes for residents,” said Sally Cheung, Shalom Resident Manager.
