BaptistCare to acquire retirement villages and aged care home in Sydney’s inner west from Presbyterian Aged Care

BaptistCare is delighted to announce it has entered into an agreement to acquire 
retirement village and residential aged care home in Drummoyne, and a retirement village in Ashfield.

The locations are owned and operated by Presbyterian Aged Care (PAC). Iona Village (Drummoyne) includes eight independent living units, and Pitt Wood Village (Ashfield) features 25 units. The aged care home in Drummoyne, Minnamurra, has 66 beds. Across the three sites there are more than 100 employees currently supporting operations.

BaptistCare will take over the operation of both sites in June and will spend the next few months working closely with the on-site teams to ensure a smooth transition for residents, including offering employment to existing employees.

Margaret Mackenzie, Executive Chair of PAC said they are committed to facilitating a gradual journey of change for valued residents and staff.

“We have a strong history of collaboration with BaptistCare, having successfully transferred our home care business and Ashfield-based residential aged care home in 2024. We’re pleased to share the same values and principles, ensuring the continued delivery of the high standards of care that Presbyterian Aged Care has been known for,” said Ms. Mackenzie.

This acquisition comes as BaptistCare has finalised a national merger with Baptcare (VIC, TAS, SA) and Baptist Care SA, to form Australia’s third largest integrated care and service provider. BaptistCare now has over 12,000 employees and offers retirement living and aged care, community housing and family and community services to over 38,000 customers across New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.

Upon completion of this acquisition, BaptistCare will operate 34 retirement villages and 50 aged care homes across the country.
