BaptistCare to acquire retirement community in Southern Sydney from Eventide Homes (NSW)

BaptistCare is delighted to announce it has entered into an agreement to acquire Walter Skelton Village, located in Padstow Heights.

The village in Southern Sydney is owned and operated by Eventide Homes (NSW). It comprises 59 independent living units, and four employees currently support its operation.

BaptistCare will take over the operation of the retirement community during September and will spend the next few months working closely with the team onsite to ensure a smooth transition for residents, including offering employment to existing employees.

Robert McPaul, Chairman of Eventide Homes said they’re extremely proud of the community that’s been formed and what’s been achieved at Walter Skelton Village to date.

“The decision to approach BaptistCare wasn’t an easy one, but we firmly believe that BaptistCare will build on our legacy and provide the additional infrastructure that a larger like-minded organisation can bring,” he said.

“We are pleased to have found an aligned mindset in BaptistCare that we know will invest in and commit to our services in Padstow Heights. They share our values and principles and will continue to deliver the standard and quality of care our facilities have become well-known for,” said Mr McPaul.
Charles Moore, CEO of BaptistCare said he is incredibly excited to welcome Walter Skelton Village residents and employees into the BaptistCare family.

“For 80 years BaptistCare has been caring for older people and creating welcoming and safe communities. We are thrilled to expand BaptistCare's presence in southern and southwest Sydney, where we have operated for 40 years.”

With other BaptistCare services located in Bankstown (BaptistCare counselling services) and Prestons (BaptistCare Blue Hills Manor and Village)," said Mr Moore.

"We're excited to meet with employees, residents and their families shortly, and looking forward to hearing their thoughts and, of course, to build on the care already in place in these services while demonstrating BaptistCare's People First approach.”

This acquisition comes in a continued period of growth and change for BaptistCare as the organisation moves towards its vision to see ‘every individual living well.’

“With a growing number of ageing Australians, it is important that we can deliver more care and services across NSW, the ACT and WA in a way that’s financially sustainable in a sector with ongoing changes and reforms,” said Mr Moore.

Walter Skelton Village will be the twenty-sixth retirement community BaptistCare operates. Completion of the transfer is subject to Eventide Homes members passing a resolution at a meeting in September.
