BaptistCare has been present in the Riverina since 1973 when the then NSW Baptist Homes Trust purchased land to build a hostel and aged care home called Caloola.
Its purpose was to provide care and community for the Wagga Wagga community.
With a vision for serving the aged and vulnerable in regional communities, BaptistCare has over time added to Caloola to continue a high standard of care.
However, as time passed and Caloola aged, plans were made to build a new fit-for-purpose home that would incorporate modern approaches to resident care and well-being.
With the redevelopment of BaptistCare Caloola, came the chance to introduce the revolutionary "home-style" aged care.
The desire was to create an aged care home that felt like a warm, inviting, family home for residents and their loved ones.
The household model features smaller, cozier and more comfortable spaces for residents with communal kitchen, dining, outdoor and leisure areas that connect to the bedrooms.
This makes the transition into care easier, creates a familiar and lovely environment for family members and loved ones to visit, and encourages social connections between residents.
BaptistCare Caloola is a leader in "home-style" aged care and an example of how great design and exceptional, round-the-clock care provide residential aged care that offers greater choice, a sense of belonging, and a home.
