Our HopeStreet - Wallsend centre is the first point of contact for people who are experiencing disadvantage.

With very few places to turn to, we provide hope to people who are isolated or living on the margins.

We promote a community that is open to anyone who is struggling, to have their immediate needs met, whether that is a nutritious meal, the chance to wash clothing and the opportunity to make friends. These are simple things many of us take for granted, but these things have the power to give hope to those who feel they have been forgotten.

Disadvantage is complex, so our team goes beyond the immediate needs of a person to know more about their story and to provide services and assistance that will meet their needs no matter where they are at in life.

Services

Community Space
The Community Centre plays an integral role in the Newcastle community as safe and welcoming place for homeless persons and people living on the margins. The Centre provides a place where some of the most lonely and vulnerable people in our community are supported to address key issues, such as personal health, drug and alcohol dependence, mental health and housing needs. Responding with compassion, practical care and support, the service assists clients in developing skills to build independence and resilience.
Community Centre
Our community centre on site is a great way to meet up and socialise with friends and family. It can also be booked for a range of social functions and gatherings for residents.
Food Support
Our Community Centre provides vulnerable and disadvantaged people with access to much needed food services such as low-cost groceries and crisis food packs. Follow these 4 easy steps to access our food support services: 1. Visit one of the shops during opening hours 2. Fill out a registration form and receive a registration card 3. Select your grocery items and enjoy a coffee or tea 4. Pay a small donation and collect your groceries
